CORNELIUS
THE SQUIRREL FROM TIPPERARY

About The Author

Isobel De Barra

Isobel de Barra is a writer living near Cahir. Morning walks with her nonagenarian father inspired the creation of this story. Each day, Cornelius the squirrel scampered closer to them, and one sunny morning, Isobel said to Cornelius, “I’m going to write a story about you!” Cornelius appeared amused by this and chortled with a knowing, cheeky grin.

About The Book

Cornelius the squirrel lives in the Fairy Village beside Cahir Castle, in the woods at the top of a great, old oak tree. He often cruises the woodland trails on his Vespa scooter, waving at everyone, sometimes giving lifts to his furry and feathered friends and neighbours, and going on excursions to ancient sites around the south of County Tipperary. His one wish is that he could set up a Vespa scooter club, which he thinks is an impossible dream. Where and how could he get squirrel-sized Vespa scooters anyway? But dreams do come true if you really want them to, and, propitiously, Cornelius encounters Freddy Fox, who starts him on his mission to meet the right creatures at the right time. He is propelled into a magical adventure where, ultimately, his vision of the Sunday Morning Scooter Club materialises.
